The humble leaflet is losing its touch. Whilst there are many benefits to keeping your message ‘short and sweet’, a double sided leaflet doesn’t pack much punch. A quick glance at both sides and the recipient is ready to move on.
Marketing gurus across the globe will tell you that the purpose of marketing material is to grab attention, for as long as possible. This is perhaps why printed collateral is making a comeback over digital mediums, but this shift has meant that producing attention grabbing material that recipients will actually read is getting harder.

The 4 page single fold is perhaps the most common fold we produce for customers. We simply divide a sheet in half, either vertically or horizontally, and double the space you have to work with. Postage costs are no higher, as it can be the same size as a double-sided leaflet. The only difference is that you’ve suddenly got twice the space to get your message across to your potential customers. A great idea if you’re on a tight budget. If you fold an A4 sheet to A5 to mail out in the post, you will also benefit from a cheaper postage cost.
The 6 page concertina fold, otherwise known as a ‘Z’ fold, is often used as a ‘mini brochure’ for companies wanting to convey their products and offering in a short and concise manner. This is an ideal, cost-effective alternative to a small brochure and gives you 6 pages to grab your recipient’s attention. People are used to the style of a book, turning pages right to left, so this style of fold causes a ‘pattern interrupt’, which is more likely to hook the reader’s attention for a little while longer.
The next option up from a 6-fold, is the 8 page concertina fold, which can be described as an ‘M’ shaped fold. This gives you an extra 2 pages to add information and is ideal if your offering is supported by the use of images, as there is enough room to add substantial text and a number of visually pleasing images.
The 6 page gate fold is another piece that provides 6 areas for you to add content. This type of fold is particularly popular in the design industry and manufacturing sector, where products can be revealed on the inside, or interesting images can be added to the outer door; it is peoples’ natural desire to see what’s on the other side of a door.
The 6 page roll fold is named after its spiral design. If your message is multi-staged this fold shape is ideal as you can present key pieces of information in a specific order, giving you the option for a ‘big reveal’ in the middle.
